The first seven days

  • Day 1Press your feet into the floor and feel the ground push back, for thirty seconds.
  • Day 2Name five things you can see, four you can hear, three you can touch, two you can smell, and one you can taste.
  • Day 3Hold a piece of ice or run cold water over your wrists for one minute.
  • Day 4Breathe in for four, hold for four, out for four, hold for four. Repeat four times.
  • Day 5Describe the room you are in out loud, in detail, as if to someone who cannot see it.
  • Day 6Walk barefoot on grass, sand, or your floor for two minutes and notice every step.
  • Day 7Squeeze each muscle group for five seconds, then release, from your feet to your face.

Further into the year

The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:

  • Day 30Write down the three grounding practices from this challenge that worked best for you. Keep the list somewhere you can find it fast.
  • Day 60Tap each fingertip against your thumb in order, then backward, ten times through.
  • Day 120Sniff a jar of cinnamon, cloves, or nutmeg and hold the scent as long as you can.
  • Day 240Set a timer for one minute and feel only your left foot, then one minute for your right.
  • Day 365Hold a steaming bowl of soup and feel the heat on your chin before the first spoonful.

How a challenge works

A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.

Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
