Bouncing Back from Mistakes
For anyone who replays every slip for days afterward. Each day is one small way to meet a mistake calmly, put right what you can, learn from it and let the rest go.
Self-Compassion · Self-Compassion · Resilience · Perfectionism · one to-do a day · you choose how many days
The first seven days
- Day 1Pause for one slow breath before you answer the next email after you notice a mistake in the last one.
- Day 2Tell the person your slip affects within the hour, in one plain sentence about what happened.
- Day 3Write three short lines about a recent slip: what happened, what helped, and what you would try next time.
- Day 4When you catch yourself replaying the typo in this morning's email, call it a rerun and switch on a podcast instead.
- Day 5Burn the toast? Scrape off the dark bits over the sink, shrug, and enjoy your breakfast anyway.
- Day 6Take three slow breaths at your desk the moment you spot a typo you already sent.
- Day 7Resend the email with the right attachment and a short note saying the first one was missing it.
Further into the year
The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:
- Day 30Missed the bus? Use the wait to look around the stop and notice three things you usually rush past.
- Day 60Try a free beginner's video in something new, like drawing or a dance step, and expect to fumble.
- Day 120Hand a cashier some patience when they ring something up twice, and let them fix it at their pace.
- Day 240Join a board game you barely know, and ask questions freely while you learn the rules.
- Day 365End the evening by naming one small slip from today and saying "That's okay" to it out loud.
How a challenge works
A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.
Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
