For anyone who feels at odds with their body or only notices it when something hurts. Each day is one small way to notice, thank and care for it, so your body feels more like a friendly place to live.

The first seven days

  • Day 1Wrap both hands around a warm mug this morning and notice where the heat reaches first, your palms or your fingertips.
  • Day 2Say thank you out loud to your hands for one thing they helped with this morning, like making coffee or tying your shoes.
  • Day 3Before you get out of bed, stretch your arms overhead slowly and notice which part of you enjoys it most.
  • Day 4Pour a glass of water the next time your mouth feels dry, and sip it slowly while you look out a window.
  • Day 5When a friend starts comparing bodies at lunch, ask what they have been reading or watching lately instead.
  • Day 6Press your bare feet into the floor before you get dressed and feel how the ground holds you up.
  • Day 7Write a three sentence thank-you note to your legs for the places they carried you today.

Further into the year

The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:

  • Day 30Put on one song while you wash dishes and let your hips sway in the kitchen for the whole track.
  • Day 60If a relative comments on someone's body at a holiday meal, gently change the subject to a shared memory.
  • Day 120Wear the swimsuit you already own to the lake, and spend your attention on the cool water rather than on who might be watching.
  • Day 240Take a seat near the front of the room at a class or talk, instead of hiding at the back.
  • Day 365Snuggle under a blanket with someone you love or a pet on a cold evening and feel the shared warmth.

How a challenge works

A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.

Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
