Moving a Little Every Day
Gentle daily movement for people who do not want a workout plan, just a body that feels a little looser and a mood that feels a little lighter. Every day is one small, doable way to move.
Body · Movement · Body · one to-do a day · you choose how many days
The first seven days
- Day 1Walk for ten minutes today, anywhere, at any pace.
- Day 2Stand up and stretch your arms overhead for thirty seconds every hour you are sitting.
- Day 3Do ten slow shoulder rolls backward, then ten forward.
- Day 4Take the stairs once today when you normally would not.
- Day 5Put on one song you love and move to it, however you like, until it ends.
- Day 6Do five slow squats, holding onto a counter if it helps.
- Day 7Stretch your calves against a wall for thirty seconds each side.
Further into the year
The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:
- Day 30Look back at which kinds of movement you enjoyed most in this challenge and plan one for tomorrow.
- Day 60Climb a flight of stairs twice in a row, resting on the landing between trips.
- Day 120Do a gentle forward fold in a chair, letting your arms hang toward the floor, for one minute.
- Day 240Point and flex each foot twenty times to wake up your ankles.
- Day 365Look back over the kinds of movement you have tried and choose the three you want to keep doing.
How a challenge works
A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.
Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
