The first seven days

  • Day 1Write down the one thing you have been avoiding most. Just the name of it.
  • Day 2Spend two minutes on that thing, then stop. Two minutes counts.
  • Day 3Break the thing you are avoiding into five steps, each small enough to do in ten minutes.
  • Day 4Do the first of those steps today.
  • Day 5Set a timer for ten minutes and work on the avoided task until it rings.
  • Day 6Tell someone what you are going to do today, and then do it.
  • Day 7Do the easiest version of the task: a rough draft, a quick call, an ugly first attempt.

Further into the year

The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:

  • Day 30Look at everything you have done during this challenge and decide the next single step. Write it on a card for tomorrow.
  • Day 60Pick one form and answer only the questions you can answer without looking anything up.
  • Day 120Do the next step with your phone in a different room.
  • Day 240Wipe down, dust, or clear the area where the repair needs to happen, so the next step has room.
  • Day 365Say thank you to yourself for every step this year, then decide the next single one and write it somewhere you will find it tomorrow.

How a challenge works

A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.

Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
