The first seven days

  • Day 1Say a cheerful hello to whoever is home when you walk in, and ask how their day was.
  • Day 2Rinse your own mug and set it back on the shelf with a small smile for whoever shares the kitchen with you.
  • Day 3Hold the front door for a housemate coming in with their arms full.
  • Day 4Put one thing you love, like a photo or a plant, where you can see it from your bed.
  • Day 5Write down the three shared bills you think about most, so they are out of your head and on paper.
  • Day 6Ask a housemate, while the kettle boils, how their week is going so far, and simply listen to the answer.
  • Day 7Wipe the sink after you finish the dishes tonight, so the next person finds it clean and dry.

Further into the year

The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:

  • Day 30Open a money reminder with something kind, such as "No rush, just a heads up," before you mention the amount.
  • Day 60Keep a soft throw blanket in the living room so someone who runs cold has a cozy option besides turning up the heat.
  • Day 120Clear a shelf in the bathroom and one in the fridge before a new roommate arrives, so they have room from the start.
  • Day 240Use "I" statements when raising a money worry, like "I feel stretched right now," instead of "You never pay on time."
  • Day 365Close the day by thinking of one thing you appreciate about the people you live with, and tell one of them soon.

How a challenge works

A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.

Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
