The first seven days

  • Day 1Compliment one specific detail in a friend's photo instead of just tapping the heart.
  • Day 2Thank the person who wrote a recipe you cooked by leaving a comment on how it turned out.
  • Day 3Reread any message you wrote while annoyed before you press send, and soften one sentence.
  • Day 4Welcome a newcomer in a forum you belong to with a short note and one tip that helped you.
  • Day 5Answer a beginner's question in an online group as patiently as you would want someone to answer yours.
  • Day 6Read an entire post, including the last paragraph, before you write a single word in reply.
  • Day 7Write a five-star review for a small local business that earned it, and name the person who helped you.

Further into the year

The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:

  • Day 30Describe a stranger in a story you post with the same respect you'd want if they read it.
  • Day 60Use people's chosen names and pronouns as they list them in their profile.
  • Day 120Tell a friend which of their online posts you still remember, and why it stuck with you.
  • Day 240Write "I might be misreading this, but" before raising a concern about a message.
  • Day 365End your day online by sending one warm message to someone who doesn't expect it.

How a challenge works

A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.

Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
