Staying Curious
For anyone whose days have started to feel flat or stuck on autopilot. Each day is one small way to wonder, ask and notice, so ordinary life and the people in it feel a little more interesting.
Thinking · Mindfulness · Relationships · Motivation · one to-do a day · you choose how many days
The first seven days
- Day 1Ask a coworker how they learned the one skill everyone at work comes to them for, and let them explain it fully.
- Day 2Pick one tree on your street, find out its name, and greet it by that name the next time you pass.
- Day 3Look up where the word "salary" comes from and tell one person what you found.
- Day 4Notice the first thing that made you smile this morning, and ask yourself what exactly about it landed.
- Day 5Buy one fruit at the store you have never eaten, and taste it slowly at home tonight.
- Day 6Ask your mom or dad what their favorite after school snack was as a kid, and what the kitchen looked like back then.
- Day 7Watch the sky for five minutes after dinner and notice how many shapes a single cloud passes through.
Further into the year
The to-dos keep changing as the year goes on. A few from later in this theme:
- Day 30Open the newspaper or news site to a section you never read, and finish one whole article.
- Day 60Take a different seat at the dinner table tonight, and notice how the room looks from there.
- Day 120Eat breakfast foods for dinner, or dinner foods for breakfast, and see how the swap feels.
- Day 240Grab a snack you have never tried at a corner store, and taste it with your full attention.
- Day 365Before bed, ask yourself which small experiment today woke you up the most, and pick another to try.
How a challenge works
A Theraglee challenge is a theme with one small to-do for every day of a year. You choose how long yours runs, anywhere from a week to the full year, and each day you get the next to-do: something that takes a few minutes and fits inside an ordinary day. Tick it off when it is done. Nothing is scored and nothing is lost if you miss a day; the next to-do is simply waiting when you come back.
Challenges come with a free Theraglee account, which never asks for a card. Your progress stays private to you.
